Getting to Know Our Founder Mandi on Our 15th Birthday

Amanda Wright Founder

Amanda Wright Recruitment is 15 this September! We asked our founder Mandi 15 questions to get to know her and discover more about how Amanda Wright Recruitment was born

What did you do before you set up AWR?

I was a team lead/manager within a Health and Social Care Recruitment agency. Prior to that, I travelled the world working and lived in Australia for a number of years.

What inspired you to start your own Recruitment agency?

I have always been very entrepreneurial and dreamed of my own business and being my own boss from a young age.

Tell us about the early days at AWR and how the company has evolved over the last 15 years.

It was just me at the start, and it was hard going!!

I approached a few people to join, but no one was strong enough to stick with it. It really was not easy starting out, but I am so happy and proud I persevered. We have evolved as a team so much, and I really believe I have the perfect team right now, and I am so proud of their achievements.

What would be a piece of advice you would give to a woman looking to start/grow her own successful business?

Persevere! Ask for help when needed! Women are notorious for not asking for help.

What does a day in the life of Mandi look like?

Now a lot less stressful than it used to be! I manage my team from the office 3 days a week, and most of my team are very experienced and excellent recruiters, so they are happy to crack on without me most of the time.

What do you love most about what you do?

The diversity. Every day is crazy but never the same, and I love REC2REC!

Why has AWR blossomed over the last 15 years?

Hard work – it’s always hard work!!!

How has the Rec2Rec landscape changed since you started 15 years ago?

Significantly! The candidate is KING and QUEEN more than ever (Can I pitch that here lol! £1,000 referrals for you all).

What has been your biggest challenge in business?

The odd bad experience with clients not paying fees! My morals are more important to me than money. Unfortunately, that isn’t the case with all. We always win in the end too!

How important is a good team in the business?

EXTREMELY.

What tool/ritual could you not live without during a workday?

My Phone/Laptop and Coffee!! Lots of Coffee!!

Which of your traits are you most proud of?

Tenacity, this job is only for those who love it.

What has been your greatest success?

My team.

What does success mean to you?

Longevity and enjoyment.

What is next for AWR?

We grow, and we continue to assist our wonderful clients and candidates.
